At HydraQ, we are continuously striving to expand our offering with the most effective metal protection methods. To meet our clients’ needs for comprehensive anti-corrosion protection, we are working towards implementing an advanced acid pickling service for steel. This method is crucial for ensuring long-lasting protection and aesthetics of processed components, especially those with complex geometries.
The acid pickling process effectively removes undesirable post-welding oxides and cutting oxides, which are invisible to the naked eye but constitute potential corrosion foci. This is particularly useful for elements with complex and hard-to-reach shapes, where traditional grinding methods are impossible or uneconomical. Through pickling, the entire steel surface – both external and internal (which is crucial for tanks and other containers) – is effectively cleaned and prepared for further protection stages, ensuring uniform and durable anti-corrosion safeguarding.
We assure that our offering in this area will be characterized by the highest precision and attention to detail, aiming to maximize the lifespan of your steel structures. We will soon be able to fully provide this service, guaranteeing reliable protection even under the most challenging operating conditions.
Acid pickling is a chemical process of removing oxide layers, rust, scale, and other contaminants from the steel surface using acid solutions. This results in an ideally clean surface, prepared for further processing or protection.
Pickling is indispensable for elements with complex shapes and hard-to-reach areas because the acid reaches everywhere where mechanical cleaning methods (e.g., grinding) are ineffective. This ensures comprehensive removal of oxides from the entire surface of the element.
After pickling, the elements are anti-corrosion protected on their entire surface – both external and internal. The removal of oxides eliminates places where corrosion could develop, significantly increasing the steel's resistance to the environment and extending the product's lifespan.
